NRMP EMAIL: 2010 Match Week Schedule

This email provides important information about the schedule for releasing NRMP Match information during Match Week, March 15-18, 2010. All times are EASTERN times.

All applicants will receive their Did I Match? information on the Web and by email at noon on Monday, March 15th, letting them know whether, but not where, they matched. Please refer to http://www.nrmp.org/res_match/special_part/ind_app/match_results.html for the message you will see displayed on the Applicant Options page. The Regional Match Statistics by Specialty Report, which displays Match information organized by region and specialty, also will be available at noon by clicking the My Reports tab. For each specialty, the number of offered and unfilled positions is displayed. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Match Day, Thursday, March 18th, matched applicants will receive their Where Did I Match? information on the Web and by email, letting them know the program(s) to which they matched. Applicants will be able to access their certified rank order lists throughout Match Week.

The List of Unfilled Programs will be available to all unmatched applicants on the Web beginning at noon on Tuesday, March 16th. To obtain the List, applicants must log in to the Registration, Ranking, and Results (R3) System with their AAMC ID number and password, and then click the Unfilled Programs tab on the left menu bar. The List of Unfilled Programs with links by specialty is dynamic. As positions are filled during the “Scramble”, programs can delete them from the unfilled list. This feature helps reduce the number of telephone calls and faxes applicants make to programs after all the positions have been filled. The list will be updated on the Web site every hour. Remember, the NRMP provides this list, but applicants must contact programs directly if they are interested in a position. There is not a second Match. The Match Outcome for All Programs, which is available to all participants, will be posted to the R3 System on March 22nd, the Monday after Match Week.

To promote ethical behavior, fully matched applicants will not be able to access ANY information on unfilled programs/positions. If you match to a preliminary (PGY-1 year only) program, you will be able to view only advanced (PGY-2) programs with unfilled positions. If you match to an advanced program, you will be able to view only preliminary programs with unfilled positions.

Under the Match Participation Agreement signed by all applicants, applicants violate the Agreement if they begin contacting programs prior to noon on Tuesday of Match Week, March 16th, when the “Scramble” begins. If the NRMP receives evidence that an applicant has violated this rule, an investigation will be initiated and sanctions may be applied as outlined in the NRMP’s Violations Policy, which can be found on the NRMP web site at http://www.nrmp.org/res_match/policies/violations.html.

The NRMP has received numerous phone calls and emails from applicants asking about services that claim to send unmatched applicants’ information to unfilled programs during the Scramble. The NRMP does not cooperate with those services or provide them with the List of Unfilled Programs. Moreover, it is a violation of the Match Participation Agreement if any registered applicant or program shares the List of Unfilled Programs with those services or with any individual who is not registered for the Main Residency Match, or allows an individual who is not registered for the Match to use the registrant’s unique code number and password to access the secure web site to obtain information about unfilled positions.

Our best wishes for a successful Match!
